Brian Risling & Airtight Alibi was born in mid 2013.  

 

 

We play a mixture of original Funk, Fusion, Rock, and also some cover material that has been alibi-tized.  When we do a cover it is always in our style.  The band has a very original and danceable twist.  The band makes a huge sound.  

We all love to play and we love it even more when you dance.  We like to play clubs, festivals, weddings, private parties, wineries and anywhere else where the power of Funk is needed.  Hit us up anytime and if we are free we will come jam for you.

 

 

The band is fronted by multi-instrumentalist Brian Risling, with David Moore on Bass Guitar, Skijah Indigo on drums, and Jerry Shirley on keys. 

 

 

Brian brings  Vocals, ripping Tenor Sax, Flute, trumpet, and synthesizer to the sound along with highly original grooves and songwriting.

 

 

Dave's bass playing is mind alterring to say the least.  You will be blown away just hearing a touch of what he is capable of.

Skijah Indigo is an incredibly talented, funky drummer, and is very dynamic as well with incredible feel.

Jerry "Haircut" Shirley brings a wide range of texture and face melting keys.

Brian relocated to Ashland, Oregon in August of 2011 from Minneapolis, Minnesota.  For the previous twenty years he played with many great bands from that area.  The most recent group before the move was the legendary Lamont Cranston Blues Band.  For four years Brian played with the Cranstons alongside front man Pat Hayes who is in Brian's opinion the greatest harp player to ever live and also a phenominal guitar player and singer.  Bruce McCabe playes amazing mind-blowing piano with the band.  Bruce wrote Johnny Lang's lie to me as well as many other tunes.  Many times the band opened for national acts on huge stages.  Upon moving to Ashland, Oregon, a thought that had been brewing in Brian's mind came to fruition.  He decided to front a band of his own.  After a short time musicians came to the forefront for the project.

 

Brian is also educated with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and has been teaching since 1992.  You can also see him perform with other bands around the valley such as The Cultivators...an incredible high energy roots, reggae act,  The Legendary Goodtimes,...straight up rock and roll, and DJ Ben Kenobi...we mix his funky DJ set and live sax from time to time.
